Why it matters

Online harm is a public health issue. It needs a public health response.

Harm that starts on a phone shows up in classrooms, changing rooms and workplaces: in anxiety, absence, conflict and lost confidence. Like any public health challenge, it can't be solved by one assembly or one policy. It needs prevention for everyone, early help for those at risk and specialist support for those already harmed.

The government is acting. The Online Safety Act is now in force, Ofcom's children's safety codes have applied since July 2025, and KCSIE 2026, in force from 1 September 2026, links cyber security to safeguarding and expects annual, leadership-led filtering and monitoring reviews.

What we do: beyond awareness

Before, during and after an incident. All in one place.

Most providers do one piece: a talk, an app or an investigation. We connect the whole journey, so nothing falls through the gaps when it matters most.

PREVENT

We teach

So people recognise risks and know when to ask for help.

  • Evidence-based classroom lessons for ages 4 to 18+
  • The Village by CS: weekly guidance and masterclasses for parents, carers and staff
  • 3Cs Help: practical steps for pupils
  • Staff, coach and volunteer training
RESPOND

We guide

So incidents are handled calmly, quickly and consistently.

  • 24/7 Cyber Incident Helpline, with support via phone, webchat, webform or email, for member communities
  • Every call and message handled by trained, qualified online harm specialists
  • Structured triage, safety checks and evidence-preservation guidance
  • Response playbooks tailored to your organisation
  • Victim-centric, consent-led investigations led by a former federal police detective
RECOVER

We support

So people move forward and your organisation learns.

  • Counselling through our MindShield Matters practice
  • Coordination with your DSL and pastoral team
  • Post-incident debrief and a practical action plan
  • Reporting and trends that strengthen prevention

Your DSL stays in charge of safeguarding. We make sure they never have to handle an incident alone.

About us

Why "Cybernetic"?

Cybernetics comes from the Greek kybernētēs, the steersman: the person who keeps a ship on course by constantly reading the conditions and adjusting. It shares its root with the word "govern".

In 1948, mathematician Norbert Wiener used it to describe how people and machines communicate and self-correct through feedback. That's how we think about safeguarding. Not a one-off talk or a policy on a shelf, but a living system that sees what's happening, responds, learns and adjusts, with people and technology working together.

Everything we do is grounded in dignity, responsibility and wellbeing.

SENSE

Education and insight help your community notice risk early.

RESPOND

Trained people act quickly and calmly when harm occurs.

LEARN

Every incident feeds back into stronger prevention.

ADJUST

Your approach keeps pace as technology and risks change.

Led by experts

The expertise to manage complex incidents. The care to support the people affected.

A multi-national team, founded in Australia, bringing cyber security, investigations, psychology and education together.

Questions

What leaders ask us first.

Can't see your question? Get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Does this replace our DSL or safeguarding procedures?

No. Your DSL and your procedures stay in charge. We give your community immediate expert support, notify your DSL when their involvement is required, and help them make confident decisions.

Is what people tell you confidential?

Private conversations are not automatically shared. Information is shared with consent, or where legal and serious safety obligations require it.

How is it priced?

Simple annual pricing that scales with pupil numbers, membership or headcount. Investigations and ongoing counselling are scoped separately at discounted member rates.

How much work is it to get started?

Very little. One planning meeting, then ready-to-use launch communications. Families and members register directly, and lessons come with full teacher guides.

Are you set up to work in the UK?

Yes. Cybernetic Shield was founded in Australia and now works with communities across the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Our UK service is delivered under UK data protection law, with UK referral pathways.
